The sustainable development of Hotel industries and its management on day-to-day basis is done at a very huge scale nationally and internationally. The definite growth of sophisticated and mega hotels have bought forth a spurt of travel, accommodation, food and beverages, meetings, seminars, exhibitions and conferences etc. Even personal functions like marriages and birthday parties have become such important social matters, that they have to be managed professionally..

Research and methodological investigation showed that there was a need of formalized education to teach Hotel Management especially at regional and local levels at least to begin and grow rapidly to fulfil the hotel industries demand and that too in the form of small compact course along with industrial training and placements.

This precisely gave birth to �UTKAL INSTITUTE OF HOTEL MANAGEMENT & TOURISM� (AUTONOMOUS), an institute to teach hotel management by adopting unique methodology, which readily got overwhelming support from the hotel & hospitality sectors, various experts and ultimately the parents and students from 2020 onwards.

Keeping in view, the present situation, UIHMT (Autonomous) has introduced a course of hotel management as �Diploma in Hotel Management�, (A short term course), and this course has been started with some aims to:

1. Produce qualified and trained workforce for the hospitality and hotel industries..

2. Create a new class of employees, supervisors, consultants and co-ordinators for the hotels.

3. To bring Jajpur (Odisha) on a higher footing in the hotel industries at national level..

4. To constructively utilize the talents of our youngsters of Odisha towards one of the fastest growing industry.
